Bonterra Riesling 2009

Bonterra, 88% Lake County, 12% Mendocino County, Riesling 2009 There’s a medley of fruits in the nose, including lime, pears and peaches, accented by lots of freshly picked sweet and spicy flowers. In the mouth the citrus and stone fruits come through vibrantly, with acidity for zippiness and a touch of RS adding rounded richness – very nice.

This is a great example of how acidity and sugar make great dance partners. There are 12.7 grams per litre of residual sugar but with a pH down at 2.97 amplifying the 7.1 grams per litre total acidity, balance is achieved and the dance is harmonious.

The grapes behind this wine are all Riesling and were certified organic. Winemaker Robert Blue. Produced and bottled under Stelvin in Hopland 12.9% suggested retail in the United States is $13.99, a media sample.
