Schramsberg Mirabelle Rose

Schramsberg, North Coast, Mirabelle, Brut Rose nv There’s a red-fruited sweetness in the nose, reminiscent of the cherries jubilee that I used to whip up table side back in the day. In the mouth the fruity theme continues with moderate acidity and a touch of warmth. The grapes behind this bubbly are 66% Chardonnay and 34% Pinot Noir. 53% of the total were sourced from Napa, 23% from Sonoma, 22% from Mendocino and 2% from Marin. Some of the Pinot lots were fermented on the skins. Some of the lots in the final assemblage were aged in barrel for 1-2 years. After the second ferment in bottle the wines aged en tirage for 2 years. Dosage is 12.4 grams per litre. Vintner Hugh Davies. P&B in Calistoga 13.5% $19.49 at Bottle Barn Schramsberg
