United States Bordeaux blends 2006

Kendall-Jackson, Knights Valley, Highland Estates, Trace Ridge, Red Wine 2006 Unfortunately this bottle is corked. The grapes behind this wine are 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot and 7% Petit Verdot. The wine was aged for 19 months in French oak, 45% of which was new. Vinted and bottled by Kendall-Jackson Vineyards & Winery in Oakville 14.5% $75 at the winery Kendall-Jackson

Rappahannock Cellars, Virginia, Meritage 2006 The nose features stewed fruit. In the mouth this fruit combines with a touch of oak in a light-bodied format. Produced and bottled in Huntly, VA 13.6% $29 at the winery for the current ’07 vintage, Rappahannock

Franciscan, Napa Valley, Magnificat 2006 The nose exudes sweetness with ripe berries and vanilla. In the mouth, structure joins the fruit to create a food-friendly wine – nice. The grapes behind this wine are 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 3% Malbec and 1% Petit Verdot grown in Oakville. The wine spent 18 months aging in French oak. Vinted and bottled in Oakville 14.5% $50 at the winery Franciscan

Ecluse, Paso Robles, Ensemble 2006 The nose features Cassis and sweet brown spices. In the mouth currants and blackberries come through, with ripe tannins and moderate weight. The grapes behind this wine are 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Petit Verdot and 18% Merlot. Proprietors Steve and Pam Lock. Produced and bottled in Paso Robles 14.9% $38 at the winery Ecluse
