Fantinel Sant’Helena Pinot Grigio 2006

Vigneti Fantinel, Collio, Vigneti Sant’Helena, Pinot Grigio 2006 The nose features brown spices and nuttiness while a golden color has already developed. In the mouth the wine is maturing, with doughy flavors, toastiness and a roundness. The acidity is on the lowish side marking this wine in contrast to many of its brethren from Italy. While I would not call it rich, as in the vein of many a thicker, more viscous Pinot Gris from Alsace, the palate is broader, cutting a middle course between Alsatian richness and Italian steeliness. Estate bottled in Tauriano di Spilimbergo 13% $17.99 at La Bodega Wine & Spirits
