Sweet Chenin

Regis Cruchet Vouvray Moelleux 1989
The last bottle tasted back in early 07 was very complex, with great acidity – an evolved, mature wine that was not liked by the class. Tonight’s wine again had its detractors given the bottle development that is well beyond grape freshness. For me though, this bottle offered the best of mature Chenin with lots of fruit flavors from peaches to tangerines, all framed by an acidity that balanced the honey and viscosity – let’s have another! At the same time, I appreciate that this wine as this stage is not everyone’s cup of tea, so to speak. The 2005, new and fresh was well received and a superb value dessert wine.
