Some whites that may surprise!

How about Pinot Blanc, Dry Riesling and powerful Gewurztraminer?

Cantina Terlano Alto Adige Pinot Bianco DOC 2006
This wine has been consistently fresh and aromatic and it is again. Estate Bottled in Terlano 13% $13.69 at Bottle Barn Terlano

Domaine Weinbach Alsace Riesling Reserve Personnelle 2005
The last time tasted in 2007 my notes stated simply, structured Riesling with perhaps no RS at all, with minerality and petrol notes for sure. Mis en bouteille par the Faller family, Colette, Catherine et Laurence, proprietaires and vignerons a Kaysersberg 13.5% $22.99 at Bottle Barn Weinbach

Domaine Zind Humbrecht Alsace Gewurztraminer 2006
The 2005 vintage of this wine that I opened in early 2007 was textbook perfect – fragrant with roses and low acidity in the mouth – a big white wine. Again in September this wine showed a similar profile with some sweet candy smells and a touch of RS. There was also the classic touch of bitterness and some warmth. The 2006 today is again on target with the same notes for me and additionally some evolving minerality. Produced and bottled at the domaine in Turckheim 14.5% $22.95 at Traverso’s.
