Kilikanoon Mort’s Block Riesling 2009

Kilikanoon, Clare Valley, Watervale, Mort’s Block, Riesling 2009 Kilikanoon Clare Valley RieslingThe nose displays fresh flowers, apricots and a note of petrol. In the mouth, the concentration is intense, with lots of minerality, lots of acidity and great length – very nice. This wine demonstrates the intensity that the best producers deliver in the Clare Valley – Riesling that will go the distance.

The grapes for this wine come from forty year old vines, planted by Mort Mitchell. The fermentation is all in stainless, the residual sugar is a negligible 1.7 grams per litre and the pH is down below 3, at 2.93. Winemaker and Proprietor Kevin Mitchell.
