Innocent Bystander Pinot Noir 2009

Innocent Bystander, Victoria, Pinot Noir 2009 There are lively black fruits in the nose, especially after 30 minutes. Add to that brown spices, a hint of thyme, spearmint and bubble gum sweetness.

In the mouth this light-bodied Pinot delivers on the fruit, with structure, a bit of tannin and more acidity. There’s a bit of earthiness adding complexity as well. I’m planning on pairing this wine tonight with grilled salmon rubbed with curry.

The grapes were sourced from vineyards in the Yarra Valley and the broader area of Port Phillip. The fruit was not crushed and some whole clusters were included in the fermentation. 70% of the wine was aged in a mix of new and used French oak. Produced and bottled under a screwcap closure in Healesville 13.5% $20 suggested US retail price, a media sample  Innocent Bystander
