Chandon Brut

Domaine Chandon, California, Brut, Classic nv Unfortunately this wine was corked. The aromatics are dampened and the mouth is astringent. A sense of the dosage is the only element coming through.

I was concerned when I removed the foil from the top of the bottle. The smell of TCA was quite apparent. I removed the wire cage and found an agglomerated cork, making me more nervous. The final straw was the experience of the wine in the glass. A great disappointment in bottle number one and number two.

The grapes behind this wine are the classic three from Champagne, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. A recent harvest serves as the base wine to which 10-20% reserves are added. Production is methode champenoise and the wine spends 12 aging on the lees after the second ferment.  P&B in Yountville 13% purchased for $13.99 at Bottle Barn Chandon
