Luna, Napa Valley, Sangiovese 2007 This is a light-bodied and fruit forward Sangiovese to tickle the heart of died in the wool New World wine drinkers. I’m a huge fan of Sangiovese but often when I introduce a classic model from Tuscany, a number of people in class will be knocked over by the acidity. This wine would be the perfect first step, showing the grape in a riper format where the acidity is an accent rather than a more overt player in taste profile.
Revisiting this wine again in April, it’s a pleasure to taste how well the sweetness of the ripe fruit and oak have married further, adding richness.
The grapes include a bit of Cabernet and Petite Sirah. The wine was aged in French oak for 12 months. Cellared and bottled in Napa 14.1% $25 at the winery, a media sample Luna Vineyards
