Battling Bubblies

This flight pits top wines from Schramsberg in Calistoga and Roederer Estate in Philo.

Roederer Estate Anderson Valley L”Ermitage Estate Brut 2000
This has been a personal favorite balancing the racy house style with the complexity given by time on the lees and oak-aged reserves. Still a great value for the amount and quality of flavor for the price. P&B in Philo 12% $31.99 at Bottle Barn Roederer Estate

Schramsberg North Coast J. Schram 2000
This was introduced years ago as one of the early tete de cuvees of California. It emphasizes the complex style of sparkling in the mode of Bollinger’s Special Cuvee, framed by acidity and very long. 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir. Complexity is achieved through barrel fermentation and 6 years on the lees. P&B in Calistoga. 12.6% $71.99 at Bottle Barn Schramsberg
