Plantagenet, Great Southern, Chardonnay 2008 The nose features freshly baked bread and citrus notes. In the mouth these flavors are augmented by a creamy richness and a brisk acidity. This is one of those Chardys that embraces the best of the rich style and the racy style.
The grapes are from vineyards in the Great Southern region of WA, in particular from the Rocky Horror and Wyjup Vineyards around Mount Barker. The wine was barrel fermented and aged on the lees in French oak, 25% of which was new, for nine months.
