von Strasser Cabernet 2006

von Strasser, Diamond Mountain District, Napa Valley, Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 The sense of the mountain comes through in this wine, structured and able to age. The palate is chewing (I meant to say chewy, didn’t I – though it is interesting to think of the image, since we’re always speaking of wine as a living product) with tart berries going a long way.

Tasted again in October ’09 the sweetness of the fruit and the richness of the oak are coming through and the tannins are easing a bit. The wine is coming into a phase where it is showing beautifully, though realize that it is still quite powerful and ageworthy. P&B in Calistoga 13.5% $39.69 at Bottle Barn von Strasser
