Meo-Camuzet Bourgogne 2005

Written by Ray Johnson

Meo-Camuzet, Bourgogne 2005 At Les Grands Jours in the spring we were treated to a few of the domaine wines which were everything the reputation leads one to expect. With this wine we taste another bottle from the negociant line. Notes on the Morey from ’04 were posted just last month.

In the nose of this AC Bourgogne, there is a sense of the forest floor, herbs, floral notes and black fruits. In the mouth this wine is quite tight, with plenty of acidity and ripe, velvety tannins. The fruit flavors are in there and coming forward the longer the wine is open – very long and concentrated. This wine again dispels the myth of buying wine based on appellation – stick to top-drawer producers regardless of the appellations. Recolte et vinifie par Meo-Camuzet, negociant a Vosne-Romanee 13% $34.99 at the Wine Club Meo-Camuzet
