Flying Goat, Santa Maria Valley, Solomon Hills Vineyard, Pinot Noir 2005 Concentrated cherries, sweet oak in July 08. In February ’09, there’s some nice complexity as well, with the fruits stewing a bit – nice. Winemaker Norm Yost. P&B in Lompoc 14.3% $39.95 at Traverso’s Flying Goat

Byron, Santa Maria Valley, Nielson Vineyard, Pinot Noir 2005 Dusty and tight; the fruit is quite in the background right now. Aged in French oak for 14 months. GP&B in Santa Maria 14.2% $28 at the winery Byron

Roessler, Santa Rita Hills, Sanford & Benedict Vineyard, Pinot Noir 2004

Sweet smells as if from a Port wines and a warm sense of brandied cherries in October. In November there is also a smokiness as well – very smooth with some richness. P&B in Santa Rosa 14.8% $48 for the current vintage ’06 at the winery Roessler
