Clif Family Climber Sauvignon Blanc 2009

Clif Family Winery, California, The Climber, Sauvignon Blanc 2009 The nose expresses citrus galore, especially with 30 minutes out of the refrigerator. This is something we talk about in class, how a good white wine will become more effusive as it comes up in temperature and takes on more air.

In the mouth the theme of oranges and lemons continues with tangy acidity making this wine refreshing but not austere – very nice.

The grapes were sourced from Lake and Mendocino Counties as well as Lodi and include 80% Sauvignon Blanc, 13% Pinot Gris, 5% Riesling, 1% Muscat and 1% Pinot Meunier. The ferment and aging is all stainless with no ML and a Stelvin top.

Yes, this is from Gary and Kit, the people that brought us the Clif Bar. Winemakers Sarah Gott and Bruce Regalia. Vinted and bottled in St. Helena 13.7% a media sample with a suggested retail price of $12 Clif Family Winery
