Storrs Rhone Red 2006

Storrs, Santa Clara County, Two Creek Vineyard, Red Wine 2006 The nose features a big heft of vanilla and freshly split oak. The oaky flavors carry through on the palate, with ripe black fruit and warmth.

I can’t believe as I go through my notes that this is the first review I’ve posted on a wine from Storrs. I’ve been a fan for years, since meeting Pamela and Steve years back when I worked at Safeway in Los Gatos, too many years ago.

The grapes behind this Rhone blend are 60% Syrah, 22% Grenache and 18% Grand Noir. Quoting the Oxford, Grand Noir was bred from Petit Bouschet and Aramon and is all but extinct in France today. The wine was aged in 70% French and 30% American oak. Produced and bottled in Santa Cruz 15.2% available at the winery at a price I can’t put my finger on, a gift to the class from the SFCWC Storrs Winery
