Kistler, Sonoma Mountain, Athearn Estate, McCrea Vineyard, Chardonnay 2006 The nose is full-on butter and bread dough with flinty notes, a sense of minerality. In the mouth the richness quadruples, with boatloads of butter and hints of lemon and green apple coming through with time in the glass. The wine was barrel fermented, treated to malolactic and aged in French oak for 11-18 months, 50% of which was new. Grown, Produced & Bottled by Kistler Vineyards in Sebastopol 14.1% $100 at Bottle Barn, released to the mailing list at $75 in the fall of 2008 Kistler Wine
