Talon Cabernet 2005

Returning late after teaching my Wine Marketing class tonight I opened an innocuous Pinot Grigio while reading the mail. Linda made an extraordinary meatloaf the other night so I decided to open a red to drink with that after a quick reheat in the microwave. It’s after 10:00 p.m. and I wasn’t planning on writing a post but after tasting this wine, I had to plug in the router and boot up my laptop.

Talon, Kentucky, Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 Overt oakiness melds with a Bordeaux sense of herbaceousness, pencil shavings and black fruit. In the mouth, the oak integrates with tart berry fruit and a nice lacing of acidity to make this wine a hit with the meatloaf to come. Winemaker Kerry Jolliffe. P&B in Lexington, Table Wine $21.95 at the winery Talon Wine
