Heron Hill Finger Lakes Ingle Vineyard Riesling 2005

The smell is a combination of lime, flowers and that Riesling petrol quality. The mouth features the sweet tart character often associated with German Riesling. It is very concentrated with great length – superb! The RS is woven into the taste profile such that some might not even notice it. This is powerful Riesling. 12% $ 24.99 at the winery. Again thanks to Rich Thomas for making some of the wines from the Grand Harvest Awards available for us to experience them out here in California.

The wine is produced and bottled by the Ingle family in Hammondsport in the Finger Lakes region of New York. This town is a must see if you’re venturing into the area. I felt as if I had stepped back into my youth of the 1960’s when I was there. Do the residents even need to lock their cars? Visit the Village Tavern for a great meal with the Geisz family.
