F\u00c3\u00a2mega Vinho Verde Denomina\u00c3\u00a7\u00c3\u00a3o de Origem Controlada Vinho Branco 2007<\/span><\/strong> This is a personal favorite for lean white wine on a budget. There’s citrus in the nose and the petillance is quite palpable on this date, adding to the livliness.<\/p>\n

Notes on the ’06: Lean and green and <\/span>p\u00c3\u00a9tillant <\/span> “\u201c a great value example; petillance is gone with the second bottle in September but still the phenolic mineral grab and blazing acid are apparent. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Burg\u00c3\u00a1ns (Bodegas Martin C\u00c3\u00b3dax) Rias Baixas, Denominacion de Orixe, Burg\u00c3\u00a1ns, Albari\u00c3\u00b1o 2007<\/span><\/strong> In October of ’08, this vintage really exemplified perfume and fruit in the nose, with plenty of stone fruit in the mouth and the tangy acidity of fresh limes – nice. Further along in July ’09, the herbaceous notes are coming more to the forground, while the palate is broadening and gaining creaminess.<\/p>\n

Previous vintage notes: This wine is ripe with tropical notes and a broad palate for a no-oak wine. This wine is back on track “\u201c clean and fresh. <\/span>However it still is bottled with a hard synthetic cork so I wouldn’t want to buy this too far out from release. Both the 04 and 05 were dynamite to start and lost freshness as the year wore on.<\/span><\/p>\n
