The double rooms were streets ahead of those at Okaukuejo and Dennis took us on a superb 5:30 a.m. drive to see the animals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We hit the jackpot with a great siting of a black rhino, ambling along and browsing its way through its breakfast.  And if that wasn&#8217;t enough, a few kilometers from our return to camp, 3 spotted hyena decided to pass us on the road.  They were literally feet away from the car, looking cute as bears but we know they are ferocious by nature.<br \/><br \/>The camp is well positioned for self-drives in your vehicle.&nbsp; Our travels provided quite vivid views of lion, wildebeest, giraffe and loads of bird life.&nbsp; One must however, be patient with the traffic, as evidenced by this congestion in front of our truck:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/rjwine.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Zebra-traffic-on-the-road-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8728\" width=\"641\" height=\"481\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rjwine.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Zebra-traffic-on-the-road-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/rjwine.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Zebra-traffic-on-the-road-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/rjwine.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Zebra-traffic-on-the-road-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/rjwine.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Zebra-traffic-on-the-road.jpg 2016w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 641px) 100vw, 641px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.etoshanationalpark.org\/accommodation\/halali-camp\">Halali Rest Camp<\/a>, Etosha National Park.<br \/>Visited January 2 through the early morning of January 5, 2019.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A great pool provided a break from the late-afternoon heat spikes.
