The team at VESTA joined today’s tasting of wines from Southern California.\u00a0 Ray’s sense of time zones (or lack of sense) led to us beginning at 4:00 p.m. Central Time, giving us the jump on the group tasting in Temecula.\u00a0 Here’s a preview of two of the beauties on the docket tonight.<\/div>\n

South Coast Winery, Temecula Valley, Sparkling Brut nv <\/strong>The nose of this bubbly offers a medley of \"South<\/a>fruits, including pears, pineapple, white peach and nectarine with an accent of butterscotch. In the mouth it is very rich and buttery with some mineral character and a lowish acid profile adding to its immediate approachability. The grapes behind this wine are 65% Chardonnay and 35% Pinot Noir. The dosage is 14 grams per litre. Produced and bottled in Temecula 13% $18 at the winery.<\/div>\n

\"South<\/a><\/strong><\/div>\n
South Coast Winery, Temecula Valley, Carter Estate Vineyards, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscque Clone 2009 <\/strong>The nose is quite vibrant, featuring a great blast of terpene character, a sort of Muscat touch, with melon and tropical fruits. It displays a great ripeness of fruit and reminds one of the smell of Gewurz and Muscat rolled into one wine. In the mouth it is thick and fruity while balanced with a thread of acidity – nice and sure to be a crowd pleaser. Produced and bottled in Temecula 12.2% $14 at the winery for the upcoming vintage.<\/div>\n
