Gloria Ferrer Blanc de Noirs up to date

Gloria Ferrer, Carneros, Methode Champenoise, Blanc de Noirs nv This is a newer bottling than that reviewed back in the fall of ’07, with a change of appellation from Sonoma County to Carneros.

There’s a stinkiness that stuck with this wine. I didn’t want to believe it as it has always been such a consistent performer and wildly popular in my classes. I’ll buy another bottle soon and see how it performs when first open and with time in the glass.

The sweeter sense of dosage is there as before with citrus fruits, a little red candy and lingering acidity. The grapes for the base wine are mostly Pinot Noir. The color comes from the addition of a small portion of cold soaked Pinot Noir. P&B Sonoma 12.5% $12.99 at Bottle Barn Gloria Ferrer
